She definitely has some “cattitude”; loves to tell me what she is thinking … about everything … has her own opinion and always has a comment to share. Her favorite things are getting her twice daily brushing, massages, sleeping on her bumble bee pillow (and in unusual places), chasing ribbons, and playing with her “prey” (her favorite fuzzy balls).
When the weather is nice she loves sleeping in her window bed or going out on the deck to sniff the air to find out what is going on in her neighborhood, then relaxes on one of her pillows on a chair or on the table. She thinks she is the Queen of the Castle (I keep telling her that I am the Queen, she is the Princess … but it falls on deaf ears I think!).
She passed her wellness exam a few months ago with flying colors (except for her weight). New interactive toys are on their way to help her exercise more and have a variety of things to do during her awake time. She is such a sweet girl, I am blessed to have her in my life!

]]>They kindly offered to foster them and slowly won them over, with the help of some shy cat handling and clicker play. The kittens won them over too and deep dark Umbra and bright white Stellar became Foster Successes.
Fast forward 3 years. As often happens, people’s lives change. Their guardians now have a granddaughter on the East Coast and often have to leave the cats, which is stressful for them. Umbra is a little more shy and tends to overgroom when they have company or when they are left too long. Confident Stellar tends to talk a lot when things are troubling him. Neither are the sort of independent cat who doesn’t care about their people.
It was time to find them a more suitable home, but who would want a plain chocolate and vanilla pair like them?
Along came Teri and Paul, who wanted to give a sweet black cat a chance after losing their cat of 18 years. They hadn’t considered two, but after seeing handsome Stellar, they were ready to meet them.
Stellar put on his best behavior and even shy Umbra came out for them. It was like everyone knew that this was meant to be.
The trip to Parker was a little stressful, but they were in their new home in time for Christmas. Santa didn’t disappoint…he not only left them a brand new cat tree, but fresh catnip in their stockings! Even shy Umbra was purring on her new catmom’s lap at the end of the day.
Sometimes our people needs don’t match our cats’ needs. It’s OK to admit that a cat guardian may no longer be the best fit for a cat when lifestyles change dramatically and a cat can’t keep up. We’re here to keep finding that perfect match, especially when fate seems to intervene!
]]>Barely out of kittenhood herself, Endora was a Teen Mom who was found trying to keep herself and her 6 kittens alive in a small space between a garage and a shed.
Of course we put her into care with one of our wonderful foster families. She and they raised her Bewitched kittens to be happy, healthy little tykes. She was always outgoing and loving, so we thought she’d find her home quickly.
But when it came time for Endora to find a home of her own, it turned out she was still in Mama Bear mode. In her new home, she was still too defensive to be able to relax around the other cat and dog, defending her new territory, so back she came.
This time, she found her perfect cat daddy and now has him all to herself. Clayton named her Daisy and says, “She is such a talker that wants to be in constant contact. Some minor carpet clawing but it is being addressed and think she is very aware when she does something wrong. Daisy has been nothing short of amazing and settled in just fine.”
A soft cat and a warm fire on a cold winter’s night…sure looks that way to us!
]]>We got their feral moms fixed and then brought in the babies. Since it was such a big group, we sent them to two different foster families. One became the Holiday Kittens and this group became the Magicians, after one of their brothers decided to scare the daylights out of everyone by hiding in plain sight up on the hangers in a closet.
Dini is short for Houdini, of course, and Blaine is short for David Blaine. Both little girls were well prepared by their foster family for their next big adventure.
Their human siblings were very excited for their new babies! Their new catmom says, “We wanted to let you know how grateful we are for the new members of our family. They are fitting right in. We really appreciate everything you all do for kitties in our community! Merry Christmas!”
Merry Christmas to you all too!

]]>They soon found out why she was stuck in the court: she was blind, and possibly also deaf. Soon the call came to Barb, our TNR Coordinator. Barb named her Helena and put her safely into foster care. She not only had a microchip, but also an ear tattoo, but had been registered in France.
After we put her on the Facebook Colorado Springs Lost Pet Alert, a man named Steve contacted Barb. Typhaine was her real name and she was 17, having been in the US since his grandmother died in France in 2009. Typhaine had wandered out and Steve had been checking for Found Cats, but didn’t know he could put up a Lost Cat alert.
Typhaine is one of 17 cats we have reunited with their guardians this year. Thanks to the Good Samaritans in her neighborhood, this sweet girl is safe and warm tonight with her family!
]]>Finally, Nerissa came to visit. She was looking for a cat who would like living with the rescued greyhound she plans to get, and we knew that Cherry would be purrfect!
Nerissa says, “Cherry has been doing great and is honestly the easiest transition I’ve ever had adjusting a cat to a new home! Within the first hour of bringing her home she had already eaten, used the litter, explored every room, and was cuddling with me. She has had no accidents and been eating all of her food each day, and is a serious cuddle buddy. She’s a sweetie and I’m very happy to have her in my life! She’s even with me visiting my parents and is completely happy in their home and traveled very well.”
We can’t wait to hear about the next chapter in the life of this sweet girl who waited so long for her own catmom!
He’d been bullied at one of his earlier homes, so he wasn’t pleased with the other kitties at the Haven. He thought he was an Aristocat, a human who accidentally ended up as a cat. We soon came to agree with him!
He took up residence in a single’s condo but soon took over the office chair, showing off his lovely coat and helping around the office whenever he got the chance.
With his dashing good looks, Samuel met a lot of people who wanted to adopt him. He often made it perfectly clear he wasn’t ready to go home yet by actually turning his back on people, like a grumpy old man.
Then Sal came to visit. Apparently he was just the cat daddy Samuel was waiting for, because it was bromance at first sight!
Sal adopted Samuel 3 years ago and they are best buds. Sal says Samuel is a great assistant around the house and continues to have very strong opinions about things, but that’s just fine with Sal.
Sometimes we pick the cat and sometimes they pick us. Samuel waited over half his life to find just the right person. We’re so glad we could help them make just the right match for Samuel’s next 11 years!
